This apprenticeship is ideal for someone who enjoys practical work, has an interest in electronics and manufacturing, and wants to develop valuable technical skills while earning a recognised qualification.

About the Role

As an Apprentice Production Technician, you will receive full training and support while developing your skills across a variety of manufacturing and engineering activities, including:

  • Assisting with the assembly of SAW sensors and associated electronic products
  • Learning how to test and electrically verify sensor assemblies
  • Supporting production activities within a Lean Manufacturing environment
  • Assisting with quality inspections of incoming components and materials
  • Helping with packaging and dispatch of customer products
  • Supporting calibration activities and production testing processes
  • Working with different teams, including Translogik assembly, to broaden your technical skills and manufacturing experience
  • Assisting with the development of new manufacturing methods and production processes
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the production department
  • Following company health, safety and quality procedures at all times

This role provides excellent exposure to electronics, manufacturing, quality control, engineering processes and production technologies.

What We're Looking For

  • We're looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual with a keen interest in engineering and technology
  • You'll have good IT skills, strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to work well as part of a team
  • A positive attitude, willingness to learn, problem-solving ability, and a reliable, punctual approach are essential
  • Most importantly, you'll be committed to developing your skills and building a successful career in engineering

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

You will work towards the Engineering and Manufacturing Support Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard, with training delivered by MK College through day release. Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll receive ongoing support and guidance to develop your technical skills and industry knowledge. Successful completion of the apprenticeship could lead to a permanent Production Technician role, providing an excellent foundation for a long-term career in engineering and manufacturing.

Qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 5)
  • Science (grade 4)

Due to the location of the business and college attendance requirements, applicants should be able to travel independently, with a driving licence and access to a vehicle desirable.

Benefits

This is a hands-on engineering and manufacturing role. In return, you'll receive a competitive salary of £21,000 per year, 25 days' holiday plus Bank Holidays, and additional leave during the Christmas shutdown.
