About The Role

We’re looking for an Apprentice Project Manager to join Telent’s Rail Division, where you will support and contribute to a range of real-life projects. The successful apprentices will gain exposure to the different elements of Project Management whilst working across highly experienced and skilled teams to deliver critical projects. You will build an understanding on how to successfully deliver multi-disciplinary projects to budget and schedule, whilst gaining an invaluable insight into the project lifecycle and supporting internal/external stakeholders. The qualification you will gain will be a Level 4 Associate Project Manager.

This role will require flexibility to meet the customer needs, so it will be a hybrid role with a blend of office based, home working and some site-based activity.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Support and learn about project scope, goals, deliverables, and risk and issue management, reporting, milestone achievements, financial management, comms and engagements, and benefits management.
  • Escalate project and programme issues where necessary and help manage the mitigation of risks and issues.
  • Communicate information and issues, including briefings and reports, to, or as requested by the Project Manager.
  • Support the management, delivery, and maintenance of project plans and workstreams as directed by the Project Manager.
  • Support the delivery of projects using a framework to ensure they are well planned, efficiently implemented, and predetermined benefits are realised.
  • Support the tracking/monitoring of the projects with an understanding of associated risks and escalating where appropriate for remedial action.
  • Provide day to day support of assigned project team(s), providing regular and effective communication and prioritisation.
  • Work towards strict deadlines and various teams to assist on delivering key project objectives.
  • Gain an understanding of project lifecycle as well as gaining an insight into client requirements.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the project as planned.
  • Utilise industry best practices, techniques, standards, and Project Management tools to optimise project delivery.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
