Our corporate property portfolio plays a vital role in enabling services to operate effectively and in supporting communities across Gateshead.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain practical experience managing a diverse property portfolio while working towards a professional qualification in real estate or surveying.

About The Role

As an Apprentice Property Surveyor, you'll support the management of the Council's land and property assets, helping to ensure they deliver value for local communities and support the Council's long-term priorities. You'll work alongside experienced property professionals and gain valuable experience in areas such as property management, valuations, leases, acquisitions, disposals, asset planning and Community Asset Transfers.

What You'll Get To Do

  • Assist with the management of the Council's land and property portfolio
  • Support property inspections and site visits
  • Help maintain accurate property records, plans and asset information
  • Assist with lease, licence and tenancy administration
  • Support property acquisition, disposal and valuation activities
  • Assist with Community Asset Transfer leases and community engagement activities
  • Gather and analyse property, market and financial information
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations and recommendations
  • Liaise with tenants, community organisations, Council services and other stakeholders
  • Work towards achieving your apprenticeship qualification and applying your learning in practice
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the level of the post

What You'll Bring

  • An interested in property, land, real estate or asset management
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to analyse information and solve problems
  • IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
  • Work well as part of a team
  • Motivation to learn and develop new skills
  • A positive, professional and customer-focused approach
  • 96 UCAS tariff points (or an equivalent level of attainment through recognised qualifications not included in the UCAS tariff)
  • GCSE Grade 4 (or C) or above in English, Mathematics and IT or equivalent qualification
  • A current driving licence and access to a car or means to mobility support
