Summary
As an Apprentice Purchasing Admin Assistant, you will be working within the purchasing department alongside the sales team. The main duties will include data entry, processing orders, sourcing from suppliers, and ensuring timely deliveries from approved vendors. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to start a career in purchasing and sales support.
Wage: £18,000 a year
Training course: Business administrator (level 3)
Hours: 37.75 hours per week. 8.45am-5.30pm Monday to Thursday, 8.45am-4.30pm Friday. No weekends.
Work
The Role
- Work with the purchasing team to help them perform their duties effectively.
- Support them in dealing with administration, customers, and suppliers.
- Contact company-approved suppliers with requests for quotations (RFQ’s) and achieve the best price and delivery.
- Ensure accuracy when inputting information and pricing onto systems.
- Work with accounts and suppliers to ensure prompt payment of proforma invoices.
- Arrange for trade accounts to be set up with suppliers where possible.
- Confirm and progress all orders promptly and communicate any delays or issues to the salesperson so they can inform the customer.
- Be proactive in growing the supplier database and keeping it up to date.
- Cover for other team members in their absence and assist with any other activities.

Essential qualifications
- GCSE in English (grade Grade 4 to 9)
- GCSE in Maths (grade 4 to 9)
- A Level in at least 2 subjects (grade A-C)

Your earnings can increase over time with an apprenticeship. On successful completion of the Business Administration qualification, you will have the opportunity to discuss progression to a Procurement and Supply Apprenticeship gaining a CIPS qualification.
