Apprentice RAC Roadside Automotive Technician - GTA06 L13

- £16,640 for the first year
- Increase to the national minimum wage for age in the second year
Hours
- Average 40 hours per week
- Shifts between 6:00 am and 12:00 midnight, 7 days a week in the first year

Summary
The RAC, in partnership with North Humberside Motor Trades Group Training Association (Motor Trades GTA), offers an exciting apprenticeship programme for aspiring roadside patrols and mobile mechanics.
Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working, gaining hands-on experience by attending real-life breakdown situations and mobile mechanic services. You will provide roadside assistance, perform diagnostics, and carry out repairs while effectively communicating with members to ensure they get back on the road.
Training
- Training Provider: NORTH HUMBERSIDE MOTOR TRADES GROUP TRAINING ASSOCIATION
- Course: Autocare technician (level 2)
- Course Contents:
- Comply with health and safety procedures
- Prepare the vehicle and working area
- Maintain and restore the work area
- Store, maintain, and return tools and equipment
- Access vehicle technical data
- Comply with environmental and sustainability procedures
- Segregate resources for reuse, recycling, and disposal
- Apply vehicle safety inspection and routine maintenance procedures
- Select and use tools and equipment
- Remove, repair, and replace vehicle tyre and balance wheel assemblies
- Inspect, remove, and replace parts or components in cars, car derived vans, or light goods vehicles
- Apply state-of-health condition monitoring tests to high voltage batteries and chargers
- Apply four-wheel geometry checks and adjustments
- Apply safe working practices and procedures to isolate electrified vehicles for maintenance
- Record vehicle service maintenance, parts replacement, or repair
- Apply customer service principles and organisational customer care practices
- Provide quotation of cost and order automotive parts, products, and consumables
- Apply procedures for stock and parts storage
- Apply organisational sales processes
- Apply team working principles
- Comply with equity, diversity, and inclusion guidance
- Communicate with others verbally and in writing
- Use information and digital technology systems
- Comply with GDPR and cyber security
- Complete and record learning and development activities
- Apply procedures to check and replace fluids, and filtration parts

Requirements
- Age: Over 18 years old (no upper age limit)
- Licence: Full clean UK driving licence with less than 3 points
- Qualifications: GCSE in English and maths minimum Grade 4 or above
- Skills: Communication skills, attention to detail, organisation skills, customer care skills, problem-solving skills, analytical skills, logical, initiative, non-judgemental, patience, physical fitness
- Other Requirements: Must live within 10 miles of the Liverpool postal area (L13 1AA)
