Apprentice Residential Child Care Worker

About the Role

This apprenticeship is an opportunity to start a rewarding career supporting children and young people in a residential care setting. Working as part of a dedicated team, building positive relationships with young people, supporting their day-to-day needs, encouraging their development, helping them feel safe, valued & listened to.

What You'll Do at Work

• Maintain positive childcare practice and work within the service’s aims, objectives and working values; to deliver a quality, child-centred service
• Provide a positive role model for children and young people, and act as mentor to new team members
• Promote a safe and nurturing environment for children and young people, using a nurturing and enabling approach to maximising opportunities for the young people you support
• Be familiar with, and comply with, all policies and procedures
• Participate in the development of individual plans for children and young people
• Maintain all case file records, including risk assessments, safeguarding and education plans
• Maintain accurate records and reports, including all day to day documentation
• Accept responsibility for such monies as may be required in carrying out your duties
• Ensure at all times that the child or young person’s safety and well-being are paramount
• Immediately report any concerns of a child protection or safeguarding nature
• Attend reviews and planning meetings around individual children as and when required
• Participate in training and supervision and adopt a learning approach to personal development
• Attend all staff meetings as required
• Undertake all household duties as required, promote and maintain high standards of cleanliness
• Maintain a professional and respectful approach to dealing with outside agencies
• Respond to emergencies that may arise within the organisation, and comply with reasonable requests to cover staff shortfalls
• Any or all other duties that may be reasonably requested by your manager or the service

Training
