About the Role

The employee is required to expand the portfolio business by generating new customer accounts, and to increase the value of the assigned customer portfolio, measurable in Net Sales, Gross Margin, Gross Profit, and transactional volumes.

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

The employee is responsible for servicing, retaining, and profitably growing an assigned segment of regional accounts through CRM system data management.

Business Development Strategy

  • Participation in the creation, development, and execution of the Business Development strategy within the Commercial & Business Support function.
  • Model the company values in day-to-day interaction internally and externally.
  • Support both sales and branches in achieving their respective business objectives in the most efficient and effective way possible.
  • Making targeted telesales introductions & appointments with customers, both new & existing.
  • Profiling of the new customers based on size, vertical market, and buying behavior.
  • Documenting required information and actions taken in CRM (Sales Force).
  • Repeating telesales customer contact at regular intervals & in accordance with daily measured KPIs.

Qualification & Support of New Accounts

  • Qualification of new prospects by applying the Global Sales Process.
  • Profiling of the new customers based on size, vertical market, and buying behavior.
  • Documenting required information and actions taken in CRM.
  • Assisting sales with making appointments with customers where appropriate and log in CRM.
  • Support credit checks for new customers prior to submitting quotations, in line with GSP & credit management policy.
  • Provide spot & standard quotes to the customer.
  • Handle customer commercial questions (technical, pricing, invoices, consulting).
  • Handle ad-hoc complaints of customers.
  • Identify new business opportunities (SA, KA, STA).

CSA Portfolio

  • Deliver the defined service level (Product and Service Building Blocks).
  • Plan specific activities to ensure realization of the Sales Goals.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities & communicate same to the corresponding Business Unit.
  • Identify & execute necessary frequency of contact per CSA.
  • Identify and capitalize on new opportunities.
  • Review and update customer tariffs as and when necessary to protect profitability.
  • Ensure CRM usage and compliance by recording all actions, discussions, next steps, agreements, quotes etc. in CRM.
  • Provide complete and timely information regarding new business to concerned parties within network.
  • Identify and act on external marketing opportunities.
  • Complete all available G-Campus training modules relevant to your sales function, consult with superior.

Course Contents

Sales Planning and Preparation

  • Set effective targets using sales forecasts.
  • Prioritise customers and activities to grow account value and maximise return-on-investment in line with your organisation’s strategy.
  • Formulate or refine customer plans and objectives.
  • Create efficient territory plans where appropriate.

Customer Engagement

  • Effectively communicate and interpret customer information exchanged through written, verbal, and non-verbal communication.
  • Develop a customer engagement style that effectively opens sales conversations, builds rapport, enhances customer relationships, and adapts to different customer’s social preferences.

Customer Needs Analysis

  • Be highly skilled at effective questioning and active listening techniques to understand the customer’s needs, guide the sales conversation appropriately, create mutual understanding, and build trust and affinity with customers.

Propose and Present Solutions

  • Develop sales proposals and deliver them using a presentation style and technique appropriate for your customer.
  • Present relevant products and/or services, explain features and their advantages, and clearly articulate the value and benefit of the solution for the specific customer.
  • Use and adapt a range of techniques to draw-out and overcome common sales objections.

Negotiate

  • Research the customer’s likely desired outcomes and negotiating stance.
  • Develop responses to likely objections.
  • Identify your own organisation’s needs, such as minimum price and acceptable terms.
  • Negotiate or trade variables effectively.

Closing Sales

  • Be attuned to verbal and non-verbal buying-signals and move to close at an appropriate point in sales conversations.
  • Develop ethical techniques to close sales and confirm customers’ purchase agreement.

  • GCSE in:
    • English (grade C/4/Pass)
    • Maths (grade C/4/Pass)
