We have a great opportunity for an Apprentice Site Manager to join our Energy Solutions business at Equans and gain a valuable qualification and experience working within the Energy sector.
Energy Solutions deliver and manage renewable infrastructure projects that help businesses and local authorities meet their energy resilience and net zero goals. From utility-scale solar farms and battery energy storage systems (BESS), rooftop PV, grid-scale storage to smart microgrid solutions, we provide fully integrated, renewable energy solutions.
General overview
The Apprentice Site Manager supports the site management team in overseeing all aspects of construction site operations within a UK construction company. This role is responsible for learning to manage project delivery including planning, coordinating resources, ensuring compliance with health and safety, quality standards, and supporting the successful completion of projects on time and within budget. The Trainee Site Manager develops leadership, commercial, and technical skills needed to progress toward independent site management.
Key Activities:
- Assist the Site Manager in coordinating site activities to comply with project schedules, health & safety regulations, and quality requirements.
- Help oversee subcontractors, site operatives, and suppliers to ensure efficient resource utilization and productivity.
- Support the management of site logistics, materials delivery, and equipment allocation.
- Monitor progress against project programmes and escalate risks or delays to senior management.
- Participate in site meetings, health & safety briefings, and audits.
- Maintain accurate site records, including daily reports, site diaries, and compliance documentation.
- Contribute to problem-solving and decision-making processes related to site operations and client requirements.
- Engage with stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and local authorities, as directed.

Skills, qualifications & experience:
- Minimum GCSEs or equivalent, especially in Maths and English
- Some practical site experience, e.g., apprenticeship, site trainee, or junior supervisory roles
- Valid CITB Health & Safety Test or equivalent basic health & safety certification
- Competency in common office software and reporting tools
- Strong communication, organisation, eagerness to learn and develop leadership
- Valid UK driving license
