Start your career in construction with a Site Supervisor Apprenticeship

You’ll gain hands-on experience supporting the day-to-day management of construction sites, including health and safety, planning, quality and coordinating teams, while developing the skills and knowledge needed to become a successful Site Supervisor.

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Support the day-to-day supervision of construction activities on site
  • Assist with planning and coordinating work to ensure projects remain on schedule
  • Monitor health, safety and environmental requirements and promote safe working practices
  • Work with tradespeople, subcontractors, suppliers and other members of the site team
  • Carry out site inspections and help monitor the quality of completed work
  • Assist with site records, reports, progress updates and other project documentation
  • Attend site meetings, briefings and toolbox talk
  • Help organise materials, equipment and resources required for planned works
  • Identify and report potential issues, risks or delays to the Site Manager
  • Communicate professionally with colleagues, contractors, clients and other stakeholders
  • Develop practical knowledge of construction methods, drawings and specifications
  • Work towards taking greater responsibility for supervising construction activities as skills and experience develop

What you'll learn

Course contents

  • Identify risk of activities and encourage all employees to demonstrate safety-conscious behaviours.
  • Assess, identify and record the environmental impact of projects.
  • Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects.
  • Use effective management principles and be able to supervise construction workers.
  • Understand overall plan for project and measure and record progress against plan.
  • Assess and report on quality standards and assist in commissioning of finished construction projects.
  • Understand financial and legal constraints and measure and record progress against budget.

Training schedule

Block release every 6 weeks at AccXel.

The apprenticeship also provides a strong foundation for further professional and higher-level construction qualifications.
