Role Overview
The Coach will be responsible for supporting sports coaching sessions and managing different age groups. Working in schools, nurseries, parks, and other institutions to deliver high-quality sports provision.
Wage
£10,400 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age. Refer to the [National Minimum Wage rates for apprentices](Minimum wage rates (opens in new tab)).

- Monday to Saturday between 9.00am - 7.30pm
- Shift work, typically 5 hours across 5 days
- Sessions broken into 2 hrs sessions, 1.5 hr sessions
- 25 hours a week

What You'll Do at Work
- Preparing and delivering sport and physical activity sessions
- Session planning
- Promoting activities and projects via on-street leafleting
- Working collaboratively with Senior Management & Team Leaders to successfully carry out a timetable
- Working effectively with the young people to support them overcome individual and societal barriers to participation in sport and physical activity
- Being an effective team player when delivering community sports events and festivals

Course Contents
- Promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and physical activity for individuals and communities.
- Encourage individuals' participation, motivation and to change their behaviour towards sport or physical activity.
- Contribute to inclusive, safe and effective sessions.
- Plan, follow, adapt, and deliver session plans, based on participant needs and feedback.
- Use coaching styles for sport or physical activity sessions meeting the participants needs and motivations.
- Promote the benefits of a lifelong activity habit.
- Use techniques to build rapport with participants.
- Carry out the tasks required before, during and after a community activity.
- Support participants to overcome personal or societal barriers.
- Manage individuals' behaviours within a group setting.
- Work collaboratively with services and other community organisations to run events that make the best use resources.
- Record and store data and information, in line with legislation and organisational policies and procedures.
- Use suitable digital technology to deliver targeted messages to participant groups.
- Adapt communication methods to meet the needs of participants and groups.
- Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns within own scope of role and in line with organisational protocols.
- Support equity, diversity and inclusion in line with legislation and organisational policies.
- Support the mental health and wellbeing of self and participants.
- Comply with health and safety legislation, regulations, risk assessment procedures, guidelines and procedures.
- Participate in personal and professional development.
- Maintain professional boundaries within scope of own role.
- Monitor and review the effectiveness of activity sessions.
- Assist with the resolution of challenges and problems.

Training Schedule
Level 2 Community Activator Coach Standard
Highfield Functional Skills Level 2 in maths and English (if necessary)
Bespoke training programme that meets the standard criteria and is suitable to the employer and the requirements for the role
Desirable Qualifications
- GCSE in:
- English (grade Grade 4 (C) or above)
- Maths (grade Grade 4 (C) or above)
- Level 1 in:
- Sports Coaching (grade Pass)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other Requirements
The role is a flexible one and in this role individuals can expect to work varied and unsociable hours, including evenings / weekends, and during school holiday periods. It is unlikely individuals will undertake a regular daily work pattern or set of recurring tasks.
