Join Care Givers as a Support Worker and make a meaningful difference every day. You will support individuals to live safely, independently and confidently, assisting with personal care, daily living, community activities and achieving personal goals while promoting choice, dignity and well-being.
Wage
£16,640 to £26,436.80, depending on your age
National Minimum Wage

Pay rates will increase as the apprentice progresses through their qualification, subject to performance.

Hours
Working days: 5 days a week covering a 7-day shift pattern. Alternative weekend and bank holiday working will be expected as part of the role.
Working times: There will be a mix of shifts covering 7.00am to 10.00pm with regular breaks/lunch break. 40 hours a week

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Responsibilities/Overview of Role:
- Provide high quality care and outreach support services to the people we support
- Coordinating the people we support care packages – tracking hours delivered and maintaining banking hours system
- Researching, planning and scoping out new opportunities and activities for the people we support
- Providing a key work service to the people we support, discussing support needs, identifying risk and completing support plans and risk assessments
- Linking the people we support with opportunities in the community
- Record keeping, create care plans, risk assessments and activity planners
- Partnership working and networking with other families and health professionals
- Provide advice, support and direction for support workers including shift management (where directed)
- To take a lead role for clinical areas of operational delivery as requested
- To work across one floating support team
- To contribute to assessment and referral process
- To have responsibility for a group of packages, liaising with stakeholders and managing staff
- Putting The people we support First - Uphold the rights of the people we support to be involved at all levels of decision making and respecting the wishes of the people we support at all times
- Financial and contractual responsibility - Follow procedures and policies at all times when purchasing goods to include use of petty cash
- To consider value for money when carrying out all work activities
- To raise any concerns about the safety of a the people we support to a line manager
- Providing hours of care and support to individual or groups of the people we support as requested by line manager
- To report to manager where care or support has not been provided for any reason
- Allocate daily work tasks to Support Workers as required.
Additional Responsibilities including - - Provide information, support and buddying to new support workers as appropriate.
- Work in a co-operative way always with colleagues, families, and other external agencies
- Act as an ambassador for Robin Specialist Autism Service always
- Treat the people we always support and their families with dignity and respect putting their needs at the forefront of all decision making
- Always follow the code of conduct.
- Read and follow policies and procedures.
- Always take personal responsibility for the safety of self and others
- Work responsibly and appropriately with due regard to confidentiality, commercially sensitive information
- Comply with all legal and regulatory responsibilities as may fall to be applicable
- Appropriately record day to day intervention and observations of the people we support care and support activities
- Take all reasonable measures to follow all health and safety policies and procedures and appropriate legislation as applicable to the role
- Responsible for informing line manager where there is a health and safety concern
- Take all measures to keep the people we support safe, respond appropriately to risk and report on safeguarding, accidents, and incidents as per policy and procedures

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Apply national standards, organisational policies and procedures, codes of conduct and ways of working that apply to own role.
- Follow national legislation, policies and guidance in adult social care settings, relating to health and safety within the scope of own role.
- Consider the human rights of individuals in adult social care settings, in line with organisational policies relating to equity, diversity and inclusion to support an open culture.
- Demonstrate a duty of candour, and duty of care acting in the best interest of individuals to ensure they do not come to harm.
- Apply a person-centred, co-produced approach when developing relationships with individuals to support their health and wellbeing.
- Assist with conducting risk assessments, which focus on positive risk taking, to ensure the safety of yourself and others.
- Apply the principles of positive and proactive care and support for those with lived experience to proactively avoid or reduce escalation, de-escalate, and manage conflict.
- Customise information, advice and guidance to individuals with or without capacity or their representative to make informed, independent choices and decisions.
- Adapt approach to care and support for individuals with lived experience to meet their current and evolving cognitive and physical needs and conditions.
- Recognise and respect how an individuals capacity determines their ability to make informed decisions about their needs.
- Identify and respond to signs and symptoms of changes in the physical and mental capacity, mental health and wellbeing of those with lived experience, and monitor, record and report changes.
- Use appropriate communication methods that are adapted to respond to the needs of individuals, stakeholders and family members in adult social care settings, including verbal, written, non-verbal and digital communication.
- Develop personal resilience and access support to maintain wellbeing of self.
- Use record keeping systems to maintain clear and accurate records of interactions with individuals, and others ensuring security of information and data.
- Apply methods of digital working and communication and new care technologies to support improvements in own work setting.
- Record learning opportunities in line with organisational policies that support lifelong learning and meet the relevant standards.
- Record, use feedback and supervision to improve own practice to identify and support the development of individual goals and career opportunities.
- Contribute and agree to the personal development plan demonstrating support required for new learning goals and reflection on actual practice.
- Monitors safe and effective administration of medicines in accordance with national and organisational policies and the limitations of own role.

Training schedule
The apprentice will be working towards the Adult Care Worker Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard including the City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Care. Apprentices will receive 1-to-1 tutor support from an assessor with tuition arranged on an individual basis.

Desirable qualifications
GCSE in: maths and English (grade A*-E/9-2)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
