“Southampton – a city of opportunity where everyone thrives”

Apprenticeships are an exciting way to develop your career. At Southampton City Council we’re keen to invest in people, apprentices are a valuable part of our workforce and the future of the council.

As an apprentice, you’ll be receiving practical and professional training right from the start. Working alongside experienced colleagues who will supervise your development and a dedicated mentor providing support and guidance throughout your training. You will have regular reviews with your manager and tutor so you know how you are doing and can gain support with any activities to help you progress.

An apprenticeship is a real job, with real responsibilities and along with a competitive salary an apprenticeship will provide you with many benefits including;

  • Paid time off for holidays and a pension scheme
  • A career path so you can progress to the next level
  • On and off the job training
  • The achievement of a nationally recognised qualification while you work.

At Southampton City Council we are committed to paying Foundation Living Wage as a minimum and we believe apprentices should also be paid fairly. Your salary as an apprentice will be £25,614 annually and may increase in line with any national rise in Foundation Living Wage.

Although we can’t guarantee you a permanent job at the end of your apprenticeship, we will support you to apply for other roles within the council, and help make sure you are ready for a wider job search with support from our Employment Skills team.

About The Role

We are looking for a confident and conscientious individual to undertake the role of Apprentice Team Standards Co-Ordinator.

Southampton City Council’s Young People’s Service is looking to recruit an Apprentice Team Standards Coordinator (TSC) to join our busy and dynamic team.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in Children’s Social Care while working towards a recognised apprenticeship qualification. You will support the service with a range of administrative and coordination tasks, working alongside practitioners who support vulnerable young people across the city.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
