STEF Langdons - Apprentice Transport Operator

Here at STEF Langdons, we have an amazing opportunity for an Apprentice Transport Operator to join the team based in Redditch. This apprenticeship provides a unique opportunity to learn through a mixture of on-the-job experience and block release training through an apprenticeship provider. You will learn how to be a Transport Operator under the guidance of experienced professionals.

Role Overview:

  • Working Schedule: Monday-Friday
  • Starting Salary: £15,973.91 per annum

Role of an Apprentice Transport Operator:

  • Assist transport colleagues to ensure efficient and effective deliveries for designated customers.
  • Create and maintain all relevant records.
  • Drive company vehicles efficiently, legally, and safely.

What you’ll be doing as our Apprentice Transport Operator:

  • Learn how to build loads and plan routes efficiently.
  • Regularly review and update plans and communicate with colleagues, sub-contractors, and customers.
  • Identify barriers to plans and take appropriate action.
  • Quote prices for movement of loads upon request.
  • Ensure all company systems are updated accurately.
  • Work closely with workshop colleagues.
  • Provide cover for the Customer Service Team where required.

Training:

  • Follow ongoing training plan to meet all Learning Outcomes.
  • Be diligent and committed to the apprenticeship process.
  • Raise any concerns or questions with the appropriate person.
  • Work together with the training provider and Stef Langdons.
  • Attend and take part in off-site training at regular intervals (usually every 2 months).

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Maths & English skills (level 2)

Skills Required:

  • Able to listen to and learn from feedback
  • Punctuality
  • Committed to the role and eager to learn
  • Good verbal communication and listening skills
  • Confidence to ask questions when unsure
  • Diligent when completing assigned tasks
  • Ability to use initiative to think through problems to find solutions
  • Good teamwork
