2 x Apprentice Transport Operators
Here at Langdons, we have an amazing opportunity for 2 x Apprentice Transport Operators to join the team based in Bridgwater. This apprenticeship provides a unique opportunity to learn through a mixture of on-the-job experience and block release training through an apprenticeship provider. You will learn how to be a Transport Operator under the guidance of experienced professionals.
The role is based on a Monday-Friday working week. You will receive a starting apprenticeship salary of £15,973.91 per annum.
The role of an Apprentice Transport Operator:
This is a fantastic role to really get your teeth into! This apprenticeship will help you learn how to assist transport colleagues to ensure that incoming and outgoing deliveries for designated customers are efficiently and effectively dealt with and that all relevant records are created and maintained to drive company vehicles efficiently, legally and safely.

Whether it’s fresh consignments or frozen goods we have it covered! Langdons can deliver to almost any location in the UK or Ireland within 24 hours. We have 12 depots and over 375 lorries carrying chilled and frozen food all over the country. We’re the only company providing a 24-hour service of this kind, and we’re very good at it.

What you’ll be doing as our Apprentice Transport Operator?
- Learn how to build loads and plan routes efficiently and effectively, taking into account traffic conditions and driver restrictions and requirements
- Learn how to regularly review and update plans and communicate with all relevant colleagues, sub-contractors and customers of outcomes and any changes in good time of arrangements being made
- Learn how to identify any barriers to plans and takes appropriate action to ensure adequate resources are in place and any issues relating to collection, transportation and delivery of goods are addressed
- Learn how to quote prices for movement of loads upon request
- Learn how to ensure all company systems are updated accurately and on a timely basis and relevant paperwork is in place
- Learn how to work closely with workshop colleagues to ensure resource requirements and service schedules are met
- Learn how to provide cover for the Customer Service Team where required.

Training:
- Follow ongoing training plan to ensure all Learning Outcomes are met over the duration of the apprenticeship
- Be diligent and committed to the apprenticeship process and make sure that any concerns or questions are raised with the appropriate person
- Work together with the training provider and Stef Langdons to meet all expectations of the apprenticeship
- Attend and take part in off site training at regular intervals (usually every 2 months)
What qualifications and experience are we looking for in our Apprentice Transport Operator:
- Maths & English skills (level 2)
What skills are we looking for in our Apprentice Transport Operator?
- Able to listen to and learn from feedback
- Punctuality
- Committed to the role and eager to learn
- Good verbal communication and listening skills
- Confidence to ask questions when unsure
- Diligent when completing assigned tasks either in the workplace or for the qualification
- Ability to use initiative to think through problems to find solutions
- Good teamwork
