Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Apprenticeship (Level 2)
About the Role
Working within our warehouse team you will ensure orders are picked and packed accurately, load and unload vehicles, and move materials around the warehouse in a safe and efficient manner. Alongside internal training, you will take the Supply Chain Warehouse Operative apprenticeship programme.
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely prepare, handle, transfer and store materials in accordance with quality control procedures
- Identify products, materials, or samples that do not meet quality requirements and follow procedures for segregation of defective items
- Receiving and processing incoming stock and materials
- Picking and fulfilling orders from stock
- Packing and shipping orders, or retrieving stock in the warehouse
- Loading and unloading of both loose and containerised vehicles
- Report quality concerns, defects, or non-conforming products to your Team Lead or Manager
- Follow job instructions, specifications, and material handling procedures to safely transfer materials within the warehouse or production area
- Move materials and products to the correct locations within required timelines using appropriate equipment
- To ensure the warehouse is maintained to a high standard, promote good housekeeping and ensure stock is located correctly
- Complete stock checks solo and with other team members
- Load, secure and transport materials safely in line with company procedures and safe handling practices
- Carry out checks on materials before movement and report any damage or quality concerns
- Use material handling equipment safely, ensuring it is in good working condition before use
- Follow correct manual handling techniques and equipment load limits at all times
- Return equipment to the correct location after use and ensure it is left in a safe and usable condition
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations while maintaining a clean and organized work area

What You'll Learn
Course Contents
- Conduct risk assessments within the working environment.
- Apply safe working practices in line with associated health and safety legislation and company policy.
- Receive products in line with organizational procedures.
- Store and pick products in line with organizational procedures.
- Dispatch products in line with organizational procedures.
- Decant, pack products in line with organizational procedures.
- Communicate with others verbally, for example internal and external customers, colleagues, and managers.
- Communicate in writing with others, for example internal and external customers, colleagues, and managers.
- Load and unload products, considering the product that is to be moved and its current and planned destination.
- Use tools and equipment to aid in product handling.
- Use information technology and digital systems. Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
- Locate and use operational information, electronic or paper-based, required to fulfill contractual requirements.
- Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
- Support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock-taking activities relevant to the organization and product.
- Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
- Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling, and disposal.
- Follow equity, diversity, and inclusion rules.
- Carry out and record learning and development activities.
- Conducts handover activities.
Training Schedule
- On the job training delivered by the employer
- Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end-point assessment.
- Allocation of an apprenticeship delivery coach who will carry out regular training
- Assessment and support visits to ensure you acquire new learning, knowledge, skills, and behaviors in order to progress and develop
- Identify, track, and support 6 hours off the job training activities
- Quarterly formal progress review meetings, identifying learning achievements and next steps

Desirable Qualifications
- GCSE in:
- English (grade Minimum Grade C or 4)
- Maths (grade Minimum Grade C or 4)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
