Ready to build a career in welding and fabrication? Join Van Elle as an Apprentice Welder and develop practical skills in a supportive, hands-on environment while working towards your Level 2 Apprenticeship.
Working alongside our experienced welding team, you’ll learn how to repair, modify and manufacture components for light and heavy plant, equipment and structural steelwork, including open and closed steel sections.
You’ll gain valuable workplace experience, learn to work safely and accurately, and build the technical knowledge and confidence needed to become a skilled member of our fabrication team.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Learn to read and interpret engineering drawings and follow technical instructions.
- Develop your ability to evaluate technical information and data.
- Repair, modify and manufacture components for light and heavy plant, equipment and structural steelwork.
- Learn to operate, set up and maintain welding equipment safely.
- Train to weld in line with national standards and company procedures.
- Produce bespoke fabrications from written and verbal instructions.
- Learn to calibrate and maintain hand tools, mechanical tools and light and heavy machinery.
- Inspect completed welds using precision measuring instruments.
- Help maintain a safe, clean and organised fabrication area, with awareness of the wider working environment.
- Follow health, safety and environmental legislation, guidance, policies and procedures.

What We’re Looking For
- GCSEs, usually including English and maths, or equivalent qualifications suitable for a Level 2 apprenticeship.
- A positive attitude and genuine interest in welding, fabrication and engineering.
- Good attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
- A team-focused approach, with the confidence to use your own initiative when appropriate.
- Reliability, good timekeeping and a willingness to learn.

Other Requirements
- You must have the right to work in the UK.
- A full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential.
