Finance Apprentice
The Finance Apprentice role is a developmental position within the GCA Finance function. On successful completion of the Level 3 AAT qualification, you may have a chance to progress onto AAT Level 4.

- You will work 5 days per week in Cummins, inclusive of 1 day per week for online study.
- Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm (flexibility within business needs).
- 3 days in the office
- 1 day at home
- 1 day of online study
- 37 hours 30 minutes a week

We are looking for an enthusiastic finance apprentice to join our team specialising in finance for our Global Centre of Accounts in Darlington, UK. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organisation operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Compiles, consolidates, and conducts basic analysis of accounting and finance information
- Assists with the production of monthly and annual financial statements and reports
- Makes accounting adjustments through appropriate journal entries
- Assists with monthly and annual account reconciliations and close activities
- Examines a variety of financial statements and transactions for completeness, internal accuracy, and conformance with accounting standards. Prepares tables, charts, and other exhibits for reports
- May perform less complex accounting projects or participate as a team member on more complex projects
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Have obtained AAT Level 2 or A Level equivalent qualification in Accounting, Finance or Business-related field (A Level or Level 3 will be considered if Bookkeeping was involved in the module)
- Proficient IT and MS office skills (including Excel) is essential
- GCSE or equivalent maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) with 3 other subjects at grade C/4 or above
- Good knowledge of Double-entry Bookkeeping is essential for the role
- Must be a UK resident who has lived in the UK for the last 3 years. If you are a previous resident of the EU/EEA, you must have gained pre-settlement or settlement status
- Good Organisation skills and excellent communication skills

What you'll learn
- Assist with the investigation of, and response to, financial information queries.
- Record and analyse financial data using the organisation’s standard tools and processes.
- Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements, and report financial information to users of accounts.
- Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
- Reconcile financial data, such as preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
- Investigate, resolve, or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
- Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
- Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
- Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
- Communicate using a range of approaches and media, with an understanding of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

Essential qualifications
- GCSE in:
- 3 other subjects (grade C/4 or above)
- English (grade C/4 or above)
- Math's (grade C/4 or above)
Desirable qualifications
- A Level in:
- Accounting or Finance (grade C/4 or above)
- AAT Level 2 in:
- AAT (grade Pass)
