Working closely with apprentices, employers, and internal stakeholders, the Apprentice Mentor provides coaching, mentoring, and learner-centred support through regular progress reviews, enrichment activities, Additional Learning Support, and the development of professional behaviours and soft skills. The role is focused on helping learners overcome barriers, achieve programme milestones, and maximise their potential within the workplace and apprenticeship programme.

- Develop positive working relationships with apprentices, employers, curriculum teams, and support services to promote learner success.
- Monitor learner engagement and intervene proactively where attendance, participation, or progress causes concern.
- Maintain accurate records of learner progress, reviews, targets, and support activities in line with organisational requirements.
- Provide information, advice, and guidance to apprentices to support achievement, progression, and career development.
- Promote equality, diversity, inclusion, safeguarding, and British Values throughout all aspects of delivery and learner engagement.
- Contribute to quality improvement activities and share best practice to enhance learner outcomes and employer satisfaction.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
