Role Description
Are you an experienced tutor who enjoys helping learners build confidence, develop their skills and succeed in the workplace?
We’re keen to hear from tutors who can deliver one or more of the following apprenticeship standards:
- Business Administrator – Level 3
- Customer Service Specialist – Level 3
- Improvement Specialist – Level 5
The Apprenticeship Tutor Freelance role is a remote, contract-based position focused on supporting apprentices through their learning journey. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Planning and delivering coaching sessions
- Assessing learner progress against apprenticeship standards
- Providing constructive feedback to help apprentices achieve competency
- Designing tailored learning plans
- Setting clear objectives
- Using a range of digital tools to facilitate engaging, inclusive learning experiences
- Maintaining accurate records
- Preparing learners for assessments and end-point evaluations
- Collaborating with internal teams and employers to ensure that apprenticeship programs meet quality and regulatory requirements

The freelance tutor is expected to manage their own schedule, communicate regularly with learners and stakeholders, and uphold SCCU Group’s commitment to high-quality, learner-centered training.
Qualifications
- Experience in apprenticeship delivery, coaching, or vocational training, with the ability to guide learners through structured learning programs and assessments.
- Strong skills in learner engagement and support, including mentoring, constructive feedback, and the ability to adapt teaching approaches to diverse learning needs.
- Competence in remote and digital learning, including confident use of online platforms, virtual meeting tools, and digital resources to deliver training and track progress.
- Excellent communication and organisation skills, including clear written and verbal communication, time management, and accurate record-keeping.
- Relevant teaching or assessing qualifications (e.g., PTLLS/DTLLS, AET, CET, DET, Assessor Award) or equivalent experience in adult education or work-based learning.
- Knowledge of apprenticeship standards, funding requirements, and quality assurance processes within the UK training sector (or willingness to learn these quickly).
- Ability to work independently as a freelance professional, managing caseloads, meeting deadlines, and maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Experience in a specific vocational sector (e.g., business, leadership, health and social care, digital, or other relevant areas) is highly beneficial.
