Coventry City Council

This is an exciting time to join Coventry's Community Mental Health Service. Following our recent successful Adults CQC inspection, we are continuing to invest in and strengthen our mental health services to ensure people receive high-quality, person-centred support when they need it most.

We are seeking to recruit an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join our Mental Health Team. The team brings together Community Mental Health Nurses, Approved Mental Health Professionals, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Support Workers and Administrative colleagues, all working collaboratively to support adults with mental health needs.

Our service is committed to a strengths-based, recovery-focused approach, helping people to build on their strengths, maintain independence and achieve the outcomes that matter most to them. We work in partnership with individuals to ensure they have choice, control and a strong voice in decisions about their care and support.

You'll be joining a friendly, supportive and experienced team that values collaboration, professional development and staff wellbeing. We offer regular supervision, peer support and opportunities for learning and development.

The role involves assessing, coordinating and arranging care and support for people experiencing mental ill health, both in the community and during hospital admissions. As part of Coventry's city-wide AMHP rota, you will also undertake Mental Health Act assessments, helping to deliver timely and effective support to those who need it most.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
