Headway UK developed the Approved Provider Scheme in 2011. This voluntary, standards-based accreditation scheme is designed for rehabilitation and residential services supporting people with a brain injury. We are now looking for a new part-time team member to join our team.
Key Information
- Location: Preference for candidates based in the Midlands, either home-based or working from Headway UK's office in Nottingham.
- Salary: £35,000 FTE (pro rata for 21 hours per week). Working days are flexible.
- Contract: Permanent

By participating in the Approved Provider Scheme, accredited services demonstrate their commitment to excellent care, operational effectiveness, and continuous improvement. Accredited providers are publicly listed to help families, professionals, and brain injury survivors make informed decisions when choosing services.
Our accreditation process is collaborative and supportive, guiding providers through every step of achieving and maintaining high-quality standards.
This role involves conducting assessments, producing detailed reports, and working alongside the Approved Provider and Training Manager to coordinate our network of freelance Lead Assessors and Service User Perspective Assessors across the UK. These assessors include both brain injury survivors and family members or carers.

What You Will Do
- Conduct Approved Provider assessments within residential and rehabilitation services for people with brain injury, evaluating services against our accreditation framework and making recommendations for improvement.
- Write and review assessment reports that clearly identify strengths, achievements, and areas for development.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and growth of Headway UK's Approved Provider Scheme, helping to drive standards forward and recruit new providers.
- Work with freelance Lead Assessors and Service User Perspective Assessors across the UK to organise assessments and ensure accreditation standards are consistently upheld.

About You
We welcome applications from people who believe they can succeed in this role. Ideally, you will have:
- Experience of working within the field of acquired brain injury.
- A relevant professional qualification, such as occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, clinical psychology, physiotherapy, nursing, or social work.
- The ability to produce and quality-assure clear, accurate, and accessible written reports.
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
- The ability to build trust, confidence, and credibility with professionals and organisations at all levels.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with both existing and prospective Approved Provider services.
