The Opportunity

Join our Aquatic Ecology Talent Network

We are growing our Aquatic Ecology team and are looking to connect with talented aquatic ecologists who are passionate about protecting, enhancing and restoring aquatic environments across the UK and Ireland.

We welcome expressions of interest from aquatic ecologists across all grades, from Consultant through to Senior Principal. Whether you are looking to develop your technical expertise or seeking an opportunity to help shape the future direction of a growing team, we would love to hear from you.

You will work on nationally significant and technically challenging projects, collaborate with a supportive and multidisciplinary team, and help clients deliver sustainable development while protecting and enhancing the aquatic environment.

We are building an ambitious and collaborative aquatic ecology team and are particularly interested in speaking with individuals who want to play a role in shaping its future direction. As the team continues to grow organically, there are opportunities to influence technical capability, mentoring, service development and the delivery of projects across the UK and Ireland.

We are committed to creating an environment where people are supported to grow. Whether that means developing technical specialisms, pursuing professional accreditation, building leadership skills or broadening experience across new sectors and disciplines, we encourage our team members to shape their own career paths and provide the support needed to help them succeed.

We are proud of the collaborative and supportive culture we have built, where knowledge sharing, teamwork and professional development are valued alongside technical excellence.

Working alongside regional and national technical leaders, you will play a key role in delivering aquatic ecology expertise across a diverse portfolio of projects, supporting clients from the earliest stages of planning and survey design through to environmental assessment, project delivery and long-term monitoring.

What You’ll Be Working On

Our team supports a varied portfolio of work across the water, energy, infrastructure and development sectors, including:

  • Strategic water resource and drought resilience schemes;
  • Nationally significant infrastructure projects;
  • River restoration and nature recovery initiatives;
  • Fisheries and fish passage assessments;
  • Water Framework Directive assessments;
  • Aquatic ecological monitoring programmes;
  • Hydropower and renewable energy developments; and
  • Ecological and environmental impact assessments.

No two projects are the same. Your work will directly contribute to understanding, protecting, enhancing and restoring rivers, lakes, reservoirs, canals and other aquatic habitats.

You will also have opportunities to collaborate with specialists across ecology, hydrology, hydrogeology, geomorphology, hydraulic modelling, environmental planning and engineering, providing integrated solutions to complex environmental challenges.

About You

We are looking for passionate aquatic ecology professionals with consultancy, regulatory, academic or industry experience.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
