Role Overview
Shrimpy Business, part of the oCommerce group, is a specialist online store for freshwater shrimp, nano fish, snails and aquarium plants, shipping healthy livestock to thousands of hobbyists across the US every month. We’re now opening our first UK site in the Coventry area, and we’re looking for an experienced aquatics professional to build and run it from day one. As our Aquatic Livestock Manager, you’ll own the livestock side of the UK operation: setting up and running the systems, receiving imported shrimp and fish, keeping them healthy, and getting every order out the door packed perfectly.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, maintain and monitor aquarium systems, filtration and water quality for shrimp, nano fish, snails and plants
- Receive and acclimate imported livestock, run quarantine, and decide when stock is healthy and ready to sell
- Carry out daily health checks, water testing and record keeping, spotting and resolving problems early
- Pick, pack and dispatch live orders for next day delivery, using the right packing for each season
- Keep stock counts accurate and report losses honestly and promptly
- Keep the site safe, clean and ready for emergencies, including power or equipment failures
- Train and coordinate a part time relief team member to cover weekends and holidays
- Work closely with our US operations team by video and messaging, including occasional calls outside UK hours

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
