Role Description
The Arabic (Egyptian) > English Interpreter – F2F Hearing at Brighton Family Court, BN2 0JD, 10/08/26 will provide accurate, impartial, and confidential interpretation during a family court hearing. This contract role involves facilitating communication between parties, legal representatives, and court personnel, ensuring all spoken content is conveyed faithfully between Arabic (Egyptian) and English. The interpreter will prepare by reviewing any available case-related information, follow court protocols, and maintain professional boundaries at all times. This is a hybrid role, based in Reading with required face-to-face attendance at Brighton Family Court on the hearing date, and with some administrative and preparation tasks that may be completed from home. The interpreter may also be considered for future assignments with We-Translate depending on performance and availability.

Qualifications

- Strong linguistic skills in Arabic (Egyptian) and English, with excellent speaking, listening, and comprehension abilities in both languages.
- Proven experience in legal or court interpreting, with a solid understanding of legal terminology and procedures.
- Relevant interpreting qualifications or certifications, such as a recognized interpreting diploma or court interpreting accreditation.
- Demonstrated ability to remain impartial, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to professional codes of conduct.
- Enhanced DBS check (or eligibility and willingness to obtain one) and authorization to work in the UK.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work effectively with diverse individuals in sensitive situations.
- Reliable time management and organizational skills, with the ability to be punctual, prepared, and responsive to assignment requirements.
- Previous experience with hybrid working arrangements, including comfort with remote coordination and digital communication tools.
