Role Description

The Arborist role at Chaffin Works is a full-time, on-site position based in Fareham. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

The Arborist will assess tree health, identify risks, and recommend appropriate management techniques to protect people, property, and habitats. The role involves operating chainsaws and other arboricultural equipment, supporting site clearance projects, and collaborating with colleagues to deliver work on schedule. The Arborist will also assist with documenting work completed, following health and safety procedures, and maintaining tools and machinery.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of arboriculture and practical experience working with trees in varied environments.
  • Skills in forestry operations, including safe use of chainsaws and associated equipment.
  • Ability in tree identification and assessment of tree health, structure, and risk.
  • Certified Arborist credential or equivalent professional arboricultural qualification.
  • Understanding of best practices for tree care, pruning, and safe tree removal.
  • Relevant certifications such as NPTC/LANTRA for chainsaw and climbing, and a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to work safely outdoors in all seasons, follow health and safety procedures, and use PPE correctly.
  • Effective communication skills, reliability, and the ability to work as part of a team on commercial and public sector sites.
