Role Description
The Arborist will perform day-to-day tree surgery and arboricultural tasks on-site in Greater London, including tree pruning, felling, crown reduction, planting, hedging, and stump removal. Responsibilities include assessing tree health and safety, identifying species, preparing and completing tree work applications, and maintaining compliance with local council requirements and industry standards. The role involves safe operation and basic maintenance of chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, and other equipment, as well as site setup, cleanup, and adherence to health and safety procedures. The Arborist will work closely with the team to plan and execute jobs, communicate professionally with clients and council representatives, and complete accurate work records and reports. This is a full-time, on-site role that may include work in varying weather conditions and requires a practical, safety-focused approach.

Qualifications

- Strong knowledge of arboriculture and forestry, including practical experience in tree surgery and woodland or urban tree management.
- Ability to accurately perform tree identification and apply arboricultural best practices to species-specific care.
- Certified Arborist or equivalent recognized arboricultural certification, or working toward such credentials.
- Experience working professionally with trees, including pruning, felling, planting, hedging, stump removal, and tree health assessment.
- Working knowledge of UK tree legislation, council tree applications, and industry standards (e.g., Arboricultural Association guidance).
- Competence in operating and maintaining chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, and climbing equipment, with a strong focus on safety.
- Relevant qualifications such as NPTC/LANTRA units (e.g., chainsaw, tree climbing and aerial rescue) and a full, clean driving license.
- Good physical fitness, ability to work at height, strong teamwork and communication skills, and a professional, customer-focused attitude.
- Attention to detail in site risk assessments, method statements, and work documentation.
