Foundations Archaeology

Foundations Archaeology is an independent commercial unit based in Swindon, which operates country-wide. It is a well-established, small company, which has been trading for over 30 years. Due to a successful year and a strong ongoing program of fieldwork, we are looking for motivated, dedicated individuals to join our team. The work will be based out of the Swindon office, but will involve stay-away projects across the UK, as required, for which accommodation; subsistence and mileage (where applicable) will be paid.

Skills required

  • Full UK manual driving licence, clean.
  • Minimum 6 months experience of fieldwork.
  • Membership of CIfA desirable.
  • PCIfA or equivalent preferred.

Personal Skills

Enthusiastic, ethical, hard-working and flexible, as well as being able to use initiative. The successful candidate will be required to work effectively as a team player as well as independently and must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Timescale

Permanent following the successful completion of a 6 month Probation Period

Skills required

  • Proven track record in supervising commercial, fieldwork projects.
  • Previous experience in client and supervising bodies’ liaison.
  • Experience in writing fieldwork (grey literature) reports preferable for Supervisor position.
  • Experience in desk-based assessments desirable.
  • Full UK manual driving licence, clean essential.
  • Membership of CIfA desirable.
  • Minimum ACIfA or equivalent preferred.

Personal Skills

Candidates should be enthusiastic, ethical, hard-working and flexible, as well as being able to use initiative. The successful candidate will have proven experience in relevant roles within commercial archaeology organisations (ideally a minimum one year at supervisor level). They must be able to work effectively as a team player as well as independently and will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. They must have good prioritising and organisational skills in order to supervise fieldwork and be able to work effectively to short project timescales.

Note

Please note all salaries quoted are annual equivalents based on a 37.5-hour week. We are unable to offer contracts with the provision of 7 day a week accommodated away work.
