Dalcour Maclaren are seeking an archaeology and built heritage consultant to join our expanding team in Stirling, Scotland.
As an Archaeology and Built Heritage Consultant you will:
- Work collaboratively within the Archaeology and Built Heritage Team and the wider Environment & Planning Team by providing advice and support to colleagues
- With support of senior colleagues, prepare Archaeological DBAs and/or Built Heritage Statements and EIA chapters to a high standard
- Draft WSI and Mitigation Strategies
- Support colleagues on site as required
- Undertake consultations with curators, stakeholders, clients and contractors;
- Contribute to site reports
- Draft fee proposals
- Work to defined budgets and timetables

The successful candidate will have:
- An understanding of the drivers of UK commercial archaeology, specifically the primary legislation, policies and guidance pertaining to the historic environment,
- Demonstrable practical experience in commercial archaeology, consultancy, built heritage or curatorial work (as a guide – a minimum of 1.5 years of experience),
- Full clean UK Driving licence
- Membership of CIfA, at Practitioner or Associate level (or IHBC). Or be prepared to join.
- Good organisational & communication skills
- Excellent team working skills but able to act on their own initiative
- Working knowledge of MS Office and a GIS package
- Excellent verbal and written skills
Particular interest will be given to those individuals who seek to expand their experience of, or interest in Historic Building Recording, Geoarchaeology or to develop their role as an archaeological clerk of works on larger scale projects.
