About the Role

In this role, you’ll lead software architecture design and governance for systems that need to be scalable, secure, and resilient. You’ll partner with global teams to align technical decisions with business goals, while enabling delivery through mentorship, clear standards, and practical guidance. You’ll also help teams improve system health, performance, and cost efficiency through proactive architectural oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable architectural solutions aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Establish and promote architecture standards, governance practices, data management principles, and secure design patterns across platforms.
  • Design and oversee resilient, scalable, and compliant architectures that support business growth and operational excellence.
  • Evaluate technologies, tools, and third-party solutions to ensure alignment with business needs, performance requirements, and architectural standards.
  • Create and maintain clear architectural documentation and provide guidance to support consistent implementation across teams.
  • Monitor architectural health, identify opportunities for optimization, and drive improvements in performance, reliability, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Foster innovation and technical excellence by promoting emerging technologies, knowledge sharing, and architectural best practices.
  • Collaborate with engineering and DevOps teams to support effective delivery practices, resolve complex technical challenges, and enable secure, automated deployment processes.

Requirements

  • Solid background in software engineering and architecture, with experience working on large-scale platforms and global teams
  • Proven experience delivering and scaling large, complex platforms in global business environments.
  • Experience working across geographically distributed teams and delivery models, including internal teams, vendors, and strategic partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders in diverse and matrixed organizations
  • Knowledge of secure system design, identity and access management, and relevant compliance frameworks (for example GDPR and HIPAA).
  • Broad technical expertise across multiple areas such as distributed systems, data platforms, information retrieval, analytics, cloud technologies, data governance, storage architectures, and service-oriented solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with experience leading teams to identify root causes and develop effective solutions to complex challenges.
  • Proven ability to plan and manage projects, including risk, change, and stakeholder management across multiple functions.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate information and translate insights into business outcomes.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leaders and customers.
  • Strong grasp of software architecture principles and patterns (e.g., microservices, event-driven), with experience in system design and modelling (e.g., UML, C4)
  • Hands-on experience with AWS (and/or Azure, GCP), focusing on scalability, resilience, and cost efficiency
  • Familiar with DevOps & CI/CD tools like GitHub, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and automated testing and monitoring
  • Skilled in data modelling, APIs, messaging systems (e.g., Kafka), and ETL pipelines
  • Knowledge of secure design, identity management, and regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR)
  • Architecture certifications (e.g., TOGAF, ArchiMate) are a plus but not required
