Role: Architect / Architectural Technologist (Industrial & Commercial)
Location: Sheffield City Centre
Position Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive / Range; £38,000 – 50,000 P/A, dependent on experience, plus benefits.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Architect (ARB registered) or Architectural Technologist / Technician (CIAT accredited or equivalent) to join our growing team.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification/professional UK experience, with a proven track record of delivering projects within the industrial, retail, and commercial sectors. You will be taking a hands-on role leading projects from technical design and statutory approvals through to on-site delivery and completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Delivery & Job Running: Take full ownership of projects across RIBA Plan of Work Stages 4 to 6, acting as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and design team consultants.
- Technical Packages: Lead the production of comprehensive, robust technical drawing packages, detailed construction detailing, and NBS specifications.
- Statutory Compliance: Manage Building Regulations applications, discharge of planning conditions, and coordinate technical requirements under current standards, including fire safety strategy coordination and duty-holder requirements under the Building Safety Act 2022.
- Site Meetings/Inspections: Attend site meetings, respond to RFIs, review sub-contractor technical submissions/warranties, inspect quality of work on site.
- Team & Consultant Coordination: Attend design team meetings and coordinate specialist disciplines (structural, civil, M&E, fire engineering, cladding/envelope specialists).

Key Requirements & Experience
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ professional UK practice experience, specifically focused on commercial, industrial and retail developments (new build, extensions, and complex refurbishments).
- Job Running: Proven track record of independently leading and delivering projects on-site.
- Technical Expertise: Exceptional technical detailing knowledge, particularly with commercial building envelopes (standing seam/composite panel roofing, curtain walling, industrial cladding systems), sub-structure, and internal fit-out.
- Regulations & Standards: In-depth knowledge of current UK Building Regulations and CDM 2015 / Principal Designer workflows.
- Software Proficiency: MicroStation. A knowledge of NBS Chorus/Specification software and Microsoft 365 is advantageous.
- Communication: Confident client-facing presence with clear written, technical, and verbal communication skills.
- Mobility: Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for project site visits.
