London Rangers Youth & Community Architect Opportunity
London Rangers Youth & Community is seeking an experienced architect to help develop the concept and site design for our community sports and education facility at Evershed Sports Ground in West London.
What difference will you make?
This is an opportunity to have a significant influence on the development of a new community sports, education and wellbeing facility in West London.
Our aim is to create a site where sport, education and community activity work together, providing opportunities for young people, including those who have struggled in mainstream education.
We also want sustainability to be built into the design from the beginning. We would like the architect to help us explore practical environmental features including:
- Solar panels and solar canopies to generate renewable energy for the site
- Rainwater harvesting, with collected water potentially used for pitch maintenance, landscaping, toilets and other suitable uses
- Sustainable drainage and responsible management of surface water
- Energy-efficient buildings and facilities
- Green landscaping and biodiversity opportunities
- Designs that minimise long-term energy and operating costs
Your professional expertise will help us bring these different elements together into a coherent and deliverable masterplan, rather than developing the football, padel, buildings, energy and water systems separately.

The development will include a full-size 3G football pitch with spectator facilities, a 7-a-side 3G pitch, four padel courts and supporting community facilities.
Your involvement will help us make the best use of the site, strengthen future planning and funding applications and avoid costly design mistakes.
Most importantly, you will help us create a facility that can serve young people, grassroots sports clubs, families and the wider community for many years, while demonstrating how a community sports facility can become more environmentally and financially sustainable.
What are we looking for?
Ideally, you will have:
- Professional architectural or architectural design experience
- Experience designing sports, leisure, education or community facilities
- Understanding of UK planning and building requirements
- Experience producing site layouts, concept drawings or masterplans
- Knowledge of sports facilities, football grounds or padel developments would be particularly valuable
- Ability to turn ideas and operational requirements into practical designs
- Good communication skills and a collaborative approach
RIBA/ARB registration would be welcomed, although we are also interested in experienced architectural professionals with relevant skills.

What will you be doing?
We are developing Evershed Sports Ground into a sustainable community sports and education hub supporting young people, grassroots sport and the wider community.
We are looking for a volunteer architect to help us develop an initial site concept/masterplan incorporating:
- A full-size 11v11 3G football pitch
- Spectator stand and covered seating
- Turnstiles and controlled spectator access
- Pitch perimeter barrier and walkways
- Solar Panel walkways and rain harvesting
- Team dugouts
- A separate 7-a-side 3G pitch/training area
- Four padel courts
- Appropriate access, circulation and emergency routes
- Supporting community and sports facilities
The architect would review our existing plans and site information, meet with our team to understand the vision and help translate this into a practical concept design.
We would particularly value advice on layout, efficient use of the site, planning considerations, accessibility and how the development could be delivered in phases.
This is initially a concept/design role rather than a full architectural appointment. There may be opportunities for further involvement as the project develops.
