The Vacancy

We are looking for an Architect to join our team at ECD, an RSK Group company. We are open to this being a full-time position. This is an exciting opportunity best suited to a motivated, organised, and proactive individual.

ECD are an award-winning engineering consultancy based in the Blackfriars area of London. Our team has grown to around 30 staff and counting. We have positioned ourselves as an industry expert with international reach and are celebrating 25 years of expertise in 2026. We will also consider applications to work out of our Preston office.

Our Architect will report into our Associate or Associate Director and will be capable of developing design proposals to a high standard. They will also deliver the project on time and within budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, and develop where required, drawings, models, images, and other documents relating to the design as per the brief in line with agreed timescales.
  • Take responsibility, where required by the project leader, for specific areas of the design and project development.
  • Seek, and record evidence of, continuing professional development (CPD) and an annual Personal Development Plan (PDP) in accordance with the requirements of the RIBA / RIAS.
  • Thorough knowledge of and compliance with ECD procedures and standards.
  • Accurately record time spent on projects and work with Project Director to ensure this remains within agreed budget and timescale.
  • Assist where required in the coordination of the internal design team.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Part 3 qualified architect with experience of working in architectural practice (ideally in UK)
  • Ability to understand and formulate design decisions and present for discussion
  • Understanding of the architect’s role in the coordination and integration of project information and management
  • Ability to use a variety of media in the development and documentation of the design project
  • Ability to assist with the management of junior assistants on the team
  • Experience in the following: BIM, Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign

ECD Architects is an award-winning practice specialising in the design of low-energy, low-environmental-impact buildings, cost-effectively and to the highest quality standards. Established in 1980 as Energy Conscious Design; today, we have offices in London, Glasgow, and Preston, employing more than 60 people across the UK.

Our projects range from £1M to £100M and span wide-ranging sectors, including new-build housing, refurbishment and retrofit, commercial and industrial, education, and community buildings.
