The Role
We are currently recruiting an Architectural Technologist to join our Colchester office.
This role is particularly suited to a technically focused Architectural Technologist with strong Revit proficiency and proven experience in the production of detailed construction information.

The role will involve working as an Architectural Technologist, leading the production and coordination of detailed technical design information using Revit across a broad range of projects. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a high level of technical detailing expertise, producing accurate, coordinated, and buildable construction information from concept through to delivery on site.
Please Note: This role will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service, Baseline Personnel Security Standard, Counter Terrorist Check, Security Check, or Developed Vetting clearance.
The Selected Candidate Will
- Produce and coordinate high-quality Revit models and drawing packages to BIM standards.
- Develop robust technical detailing solutions and construction packages that demonstrate a thorough understanding of building regulations, materials, and construction methodologies.
- Review and coordinate consultant information within Revit to ensure fully integrated and clash-free project documentation.
- Act as a technical resource within the team, promoting best practice in Revit modelling, detailing, and drawing production.
- Accept instructions from clients to understand their requirements and develop their briefs.
- Produce feasibility reports for clients which fully consider statutory restrictions and client briefing from outset.
- Prepare any necessary building regulation, planning applications, Listed Building applications and monitor and deal with as necessary by liaising clients, other consultants and relevant authorities.
- Prepare design drawings for competitive tender including production of working drawings and plans and producing pre-tender estimates and obtaining costs from suppliers.
- Undertake tendering process and post-tender analysis, including production of tender report to client and potential value engineering exercise and make recommendations to client where required by the contract/project.
- Be aware of the scope of services for each project and be mindful of this on a day-to-day basis with a view to seeking additional fees where possible in the context of a balanced relationship with the client.
- Take ownership of/responsibility for matters arising from projects under control.
- Deliver technical and co-ordination aspects of projects under portfolio control and ensure excellence of delivery.
- Take day-to-day responsibility for ensuring project portfolio is kept on track and assigned resource is informed of short- and long-term goals within programme.
- Complete tasks as assigned by the team leader.
- Meet annual and monthly fee targets as directed by the Office Partner.
- Assist in developing scheme designs to detail design stage.
- Liaise with other consultants, internal and external, to ensure fully integrated production documentation.
- Liaise with sub-contractors, specialist suppliers and other contractors as appropriate, including checking of drawings.
- Carry out measured surveys of buildings.
- Assist in project delivery during construction.
- Attend site meetings as appropriate.
- Assist in and contribute to the regular review of activities to maximise effectiveness and delivery of working drawing packages.
- Write technical specifications utilising NBS, minimal supervision.
- Assist with projects being undertaken by other Ingleton Wood teams or offices as requested.
- Provide technical input for preparation of BREEAM assessments, SBEM calculations, EPC’s etc, and integrate requirements into the drawings package.
- Take responsibility for day-to-day job running of specific projects under the supervision of the team leader.
- Provide direction and feedback on team and individual objectives.
- Foster two-way communication and effective team-working.
- Be able to identify, manage and minimise risks (e.g. financial, business continuity, health & safety)
- Contribute to cross-disciplinary activity.

Essential Skills, Experience, and Attributes
- Degree in Architectural Technology.
- MCIAT or working towards the professional membership.
- Proficient in AutoCAD.
- Advanced Revit skills with extensive experience producing and coordinating BIM models and technical drawing packages.
- Demonstrable experience delivering detailed technical design information across all RIBA work stages.
- Strong technical detailing ability with a sound understanding of UK Building Regulations, construction methods, and building technology.
- Experience producing construction packages, specifications, and coordinated working drawing information.
- Ability to identify and resolve technical design issues independently.
