Architectural Technician / Technically Focused Architect

Location: Chelsea, London
Salary: £30,000–£45,000
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:30pm
Contract: Permanent or Contract

About the Company

An established and award-winning architecture practice based in Chelsea is looking to appoint a talented Architectural Technician or technically focused Architect to join its growing team.
The practice has a strong reputation for delivering bespoke, high-end residential projects for discerning private clients, combining design quality with technical excellence and a strong understanding of construction.

About the Role

This position would suit a technically minded Architectural Technician, Architectural Technologist or Architect with a genuine passion for construction, detailing, and technical design.
You will play an integral role within the project team, producing high-quality technical information and developing bespoke construction solutions from planning through to completion. You will work closely with senior architects, consultants, contractors, and manufacturers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare planning and technical drawings using AutoCAD
  • Produce detailed construction information and coordinated drawing packages
  • Develop bespoke construction details from first principles
  • Liaise with consultants, contractors, and manufacturers
  • Research construction methods, materials, and products
  • Undertake site visits, inspections, and snagging
  • Prepare project specifications using NBS Chorus
  • Produce SketchUp models and technical visual material
  • Maintain project documentation and technical records
  • Assist with smaller projects, including space planning and technical layouts
  • Ensure design quality and compliance with Building Regulations are maintained throughout projects

About You

  • Degree in Architectural Technology or Architecture
  • Minimum five years' post-qualification experience, unless recently qualified with exceptional technical ability
  • Strong technical and construction detailing experience
  • Excellent AutoCAD skills, including Xrefs and structured layering
  • Proven ability to develop bespoke technical details
  • Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations and construction methods
  • Experience with NBS Chorus and SketchUp
  • Basic Adobe Photoshop proficiency
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • High-end residential experience is highly desirable
  • Revit experience is desirable
  • Genuine interest in construction, craftsmanship, and technical design
  • Open to both permanent/PAYE and contract applicants
