Architectural Technologist / Building Surveyor

£40,000 - £47,500 + Excellent Benefits + Agile Working + Bonus

Bristol | Hybrid Working | Outstanding Project Portfolio | Genuine Career Progression

Are you technically strong, confident with CAD and looking for more variety than a traditional design role? This is an opportunity worth exploring.

We are representing one of the UK's most respected independent property and building consultancies as they continue to grow their Bristol team.

Our client is looking for an Architectural Technologist, Building Surveyor or technically focused construction professional who enjoys the design and detailing side of projects and wants to see their work progress from initial concept through to delivery.

You will join an established, highly regarded team working across an exceptional portfolio of buildings and projects, including work within Higher Education, healthcare, the Ministry of Justice and the wider public sector.

This is not a role where you will simply sit behind a screen producing drawings.

You will have the opportunity to become involved in projects from feasibility and design through to specification, tender and construction, working alongside experienced Building Surveyors, Project Managers and other property professionals.

The Opportunity

Depending upon your experience, you will be involved in:

  • Producing technical drawings and coordinated design information using AutoCAD and Revit
  • Developing refurbishment, alteration and building improvement schemes
  • Preparing technical details, specifications and schedules of work
  • Supporting projects through feasibility, design and tender stages
  • Working with colleagues and clients to solve practical building and design challenges
  • Ensuring designs meet Building Regulations and other statutory requirements
  • Developing greater responsibility for projects as your experience grows

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

For someone who wants it, there is also the opportunity to take ownership of projects and develop broader project delivery experience, rather than remaining solely within a drawing or technical production role.

Who Are We Looking For?

Your current job title is less important than your technical capability. You could currently be working as an:

  • Architectural Technologist
  • Architectural Technician
  • Building Surveyor
  • Technical Designer

Ideally, you will have around three to five years' relevant experience and be comfortable producing good-quality technical drawings and construction information. Experience of AutoCAD is important, while knowledge of Revit and BIM would be particularly valuable. Most importantly, we are interested in people who understand how buildings are put together, enjoy solving technical problems and want to continue developing their careers.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

The quality of the employer is a major part of the attraction. You will be joining a successful, well-structured and highly regarded consultancy with an excellent reputation across the built environment.

In return, you can expect:
