Architectural Technologist

A busy design studio in North Birmingham is looking to employ the services of an Architectural Technologist, with at least 4 years of experience in a similar role. This role would suit a Technologist looking for their next challenge who wants to work on some forward-thinking commercial projects, mixed use projects and high-end bespoke homes. You will be joining a team of 8 in a modern vibrant office.
Key Responsibilities
We are seeking to appoint a highly competent and experienced Architectural Technologist to join our professional team in Birmingham. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, particularly in the design and coordination of RC frame or structural steel building systems, Traditional construction and basements, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality architectural and construction documents across a range of commercial and domestic projects.
Role Overview
The appointed individual will be responsible for the production of detailed technical drawings, specifications, and coordinated design information, ensuring full compliance with current legislation and industry standards (Building Regulations). This role requires close collaboration with internal design teams, external consultants, and project stakeholders to support the successful progression of projects from early technical development through to construction.

Key Responsibilities
- Produce comprehensive technical drawings, models, and specifications to a high professional standard.
- Coordinate effectively with architects, structural engineers, contractors, and other disciplines.
- Develop and review detailed design solutions for steel frame and reinforced concrete building structures.
- Provide technical leadership on matters relating to below-ground construction, including foundations, retaining structures, and waterproofing systems.
- Ensure all project information is prepared in accordance with current UK Building Regulations and relevant statutory requirements.
- Support site operations by responding to technical queries and assisting in the resolution of construction-stage issues.
- Contribute to quality assurance processes and adherence to internal technical standards.

Candidate Requirements
- A minimum of 4 years’ professional experience in a similar Architectural Technologist role.
- Demonstrable experience working with steel frame buildings, reinforced concrete structures and below ground construction.
- Strong technical understanding of below-ground construction methodologies.
- Excellent knowledge of current UK Building Regulations and associated guidance.
- Proficiency in ArchiCAD preferred but will consider AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, or comparable design platforms.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet project deadlines with accuracy and professionalism.
