Company Description

KnoxHowell Architects is a RIBA chartered practice based on the Isle of Wight, providing a full range of architectural services from concept design through to completion. The studio works on planning, building regulations, technical design, and contract administration for a variety of projects. The team combines design-led thinking with detailed technical expertise to deliver practical, well-resolved buildings. Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in East Cowes for an Architectural Technologist / Technician. The role involves producing accurate technical drawings, working drawings, and construction details for projects at various stages, from planning through building regulations and technical design. The Architectural Technologist / Technician will collaborate closely with architects and other team members, liaise with consultants and, where appropriate, contractors, and help ensure that design intent is translated into clear, buildable information.

Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in Architectural Technology, with the ability to translate design concepts into practical technical solutions.
  • Demonstrable skills in Technical Drawing and Working Drawings, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and buildability of information.
  • Experience producing detailed Architectural Drawings and Construction Drawings aligned with UK building regulations and industry standards.
  • Competence in relevant CAD/BIM software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar) and digital documentation tools.
  • Solid understanding of UK planning and building regulations, construction methods, and materials.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team on-site.
  • Relevant qualification in Architectural Technology or a related discipline; professional experience in an architectural practice is highly beneficial.
