Architectural Designer / Urban Designer
Location: Dorset
Salary: GBP28,000/GBP35,000
Penguin is proud to be working with a specialist independent masterplanning and urban design consultancy on an exciting opportunity for an Architectural Designer / Urban Designer to join their growing team.
The practice specialises in masterplanning, urban design, architecture, strategic planning and landscape architecture, working on a diverse range of projects from high-density urban regeneration and town centre schemes through to residential developments and large-scale mixed-use communities.
The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for a creative and commercially minded designer to work across projects from the initial concept and feasibility stages through to planning and detailed implementation.
You'll Have The Opportunity To
- Develop innovative masterplans, architectural layouts and urban design proposals.
- Work on residential, mixed-use, regeneration and community-led developments.
- Produce high-quality design concepts, site layouts and presentation material.
- Contribute to masterplanning and urban design strategies.
- Work collaboratively with clients, planners, architects, landscape architects and other consultants.
- Develop design solutions that balance design quality, planning requirements and commercial viability.
- Contribute to projects from early-stage visioning through to planning and implementation.

About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- A degree in Architecture, Urban Design, Planning or a related discipline.
- Previous experience within an architectural, urban design or masterplanning practice.
- Strong design and visualisation skills with an excellent eye for detail.
- Experience producing masterplans, site layouts and architectural/design drawings.
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and/or other relevant design software.
- An understanding of the UK planning and development process.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- A creative, proactive and collaborative approach to design.
- The ambition to develop their career within a specialist masterplanning practice.
