Internship Opportunity: Library and Archive Digitisation
Location: Armenian Institute, 1 Onslow Street, London EC1N 8AS
Duration: Three months
Hours: 7.5 hours a week

The Armenian Institute is looking for an organised and enthusiastic intern to support a library and archive digitisation project over a three-month period.
This is an opportunity to gain practical experience in the digitisation, organisation and preservation of library and archival materials. The role will involve working directly with physical collections in our office, using scanning equipment and helping to organise and quality-check digital files. The internship is particularly suited to students and recent graduates interested in libraries, archives, history, cultural heritage, digital humanities, information management or related fields.
The intern will support the project team with:
- Scanning books, documents, photographs and other archival materials.
- Preparing materials for scanning and handling them carefully.
- Checking scanned materials for quality and completeness.
- Naming, organising and filing digital materials according to agreed conventions.
- Entering and checking basic catalogue and metadata information.
- Maintaining accurate records of digitisation work.
- Organising physical and digital materials.
- Carrying out basic quality-control checks.
- Supporting other practical aspects of the digitisation project as required.

We are looking for someone who is:
- Highly organised and methodical.
- Careful and attentive to detail.
- Reliable and able to work independently.
- Comfortable undertaking detailed and sometimes repetitive work.
- Confident using computers and willing to learn new systems.
- Interested in libraries, archives, cultural heritage or digitisation.
- Able to handle books, documents and archival materials with care.
- Interested in Armenian history.

Previous experience in libraries, archives, scanning or cataloguing is not required. Training and guidance will be provided. We particularly welcome applications from students and recent graduates looking to gain practical experience alongside their studies.
Practical Information
- The internship will run for three months.
- There will be a maximum of 90 paid hours during the placement.
- The total payment is £1,200 paid monthly in arrears.
- Working hours will be agreed in advance and can be scheduled flexibly within the three-month period.
- Transportation is not covered.
- The role is office-based, as it involves working with physical library and archival materials and scanning equipment.
