Company Description

Youth Politics UK is a youth-led organization dedicated to engaging young people in politics, public affairs, and democracy. The organization provides platforms for young people to learn about political issues, develop their voices, and participate meaningfully in the democratic process. Through publications, campaigns, educational initiatives, and structured opportunities, Youth Politics UK works to make politics more accessible, transparent, and representative of the next generation. Its mission is to inform, engage, and empower young people, ensuring they can contribute confidently to public debate and civic life.

Role Description

The Area Correspondent is a voluntary remote role responsible for reporting on political developments, youth perspectives, and local civic issues within a designated area. Day-to-day tasks include:

The role involves:

  • Maintaining regular communication with editorial teams
  • Contributing ideas for articles and campaigns
  • Ensuring coverage is inclusive and representative of diverse youth voices

The Area Correspondent will also:

  • Engage with audiences through digital channels
  • Respond to inquiries
  • Collaborate with other correspondents to support national initiatives and projects

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong Communication and Customer Service skills to interact effectively with young people, stakeholders, and audiences.
  • Candidates should possess solid Writing skills to produce clear, engaging, and accurate content for online and print publications.
  • Candidates should possess Research and Politics skills to analyze current events, understand policy issues, and present balanced perspectives.
  • Candidates should demonstrate excellent time management, organization, and attention to detail in meeting deadlines and managing multiple assignments.
  • Candidates should be comfortable working remotely, using digital collaboration tools, and contributing to a youth-led, mission-driven team environment.
