Position: Area Engineering Manager - Warrington

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • To Lead and direct a multi-disciplinary engineering Team to:
    • Deliver the Stage 3 Define phase onwards in line with agreed project schedule and cost
    • Drive Engineering teams to optimise the stage 2 Appraise and Select single preferred solution and produce a stage 3 Preliminary Design
    • Complete preliminary design assurance activities in line with agreed Risk Based Assurance Strategy
    • AEM leading the multidiscipline teams, responsible for estimating, scheduling, forecasting, and the production of the agreed design deliverables.
    • Management of the DSA teams in production of deliverables.
    • Development of the safety case(s), including attendance at HAZOPs, support to safety assessment, review of ES, production of substantiation documentation.
    • Identification of additional resource demand where required to ensure all deliverables can be originated and checked in accordance with the project schedule dates.
    • Interfacing with other Project Discipline leads within the project(s).
    • Interfacing and engagement with Site clients and stakeholders.
    • Support production of Stage 4 Deliver estimate and schedule.
    • Have input to the commercial engagement of suppliers in the Define phase.
    • Work collaboratively with full integrated project team.

Requirements:

  • Background engineering experience demonstrating a record of successful delivery including recent positions influencing professional engineers and guiding technical personnel.
  • Significant experience working in an engineering design environment in roles where knowledge of engineering was a key attribute.
  • Proven project delivery across full project life cycle.
  • Recent experience working within a regulated and quality assured system (preferably nuclear) in roles where professional engineering judgement is the key attribute.
  • Knowledge and understanding of governing laws, regulations, and standards for nuclear industry (equivalence from other industries will be considered):
    • Health & Safety at Work Act and various Regulations including The Construction (design and management) Regulations 2015, Safety of Machinery, CDM, LOLER, Pressure Systems, DSEAR, Ionising Radiation.
  • Experience with Project System Engineering and the system engineering approach to design.
