About the Role
Amentum is seeking experienced Area Engineering Managers (AEMs) to support the Design Services Alliance (DSA) via AXIOM at Sellafield.
The AEM provides engineering leadership to multidisciplinary teams in the development and delivery of safe, technically robust and fit-for-purpose engineering solutions.
Working across projects, defined engineering areas or portfolios of work, you will take responsibility for the technical integrity and integration of the engineering solution within your allocated area. Opportunities may span Front End Enabling Delivery (FEED), concept and preliminary design, detailed design and engineering support through construction and commissioning.
You will act as the engineering focal point for your area, bringing together engineering disciplines, safety, operations and project stakeholders to ensure solutions satisfy project requirements and are delivered to the required standards of safety, quality, cost and schedule.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
