Job Summary:
Trane is seeking a dynamic and strategic Area General Manager to lead our Supply business across the Canada-Northeast Region. This executive leadership role is responsible for driving profitable growth, expanding market share, strengthening customer loyalty, and delivering operational excellence across a complex, market-based distribution network serving residential and commercial equipment and supply customers.
With responsibility for a $70M territory, 15 locations, and a team of 60+ employees, this leader will play a pivotal role in shaping regional performance, building organizational capability, and fostering a high-performance culture. The ideal candidate brings strong business acumen, an entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to adapt strategies to evolving market conditions while leading teams through growth, transformation, and change.
Work Location:
This position is designated as remote within a defined geography and supports the New England District (MA, RI, NH, ME, VT, CT, Upstate NY). This role reports to the Regional General Manager, Canada-Northeast.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the region, with full accountability for business performance, including revenue growth, profitability, market share expansion, and new customer/dealer development across the assigned territory.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing leadership team across sales and operations, setting a clear vision, establishing accountability, and building a culture focused on engagement, performance, and continuous improvement.
- Champion an entrepreneurial and market-responsive leadership approach by identifying growth opportunities, anticipating market shifts, and adapting strategies quickly to meet changing customer and business needs.
- Foster a winning, customer-centric culture that prioritizes service excellence, strengthens customer loyalty, and ensures effective resolution of escalated customer and national account issues.
- Drive cross-functional alignment across sales, operations, HR, and channel partners to execute business plans, optimize resources, and support key strategic initiatives.
- Own full P&L responsibility, including achievement of budgeted residential and light commercial equipment, parts, and supplies sales, margin, and overall regional financial performance.
- Build and strengthen channel partnerships with independent wholesale distributors, commercial sales offices, and other strategic partners to support sustained market growth.
- Ensure consistent execution and operational excellence across all locations by advancing sales process adoption, operational discipline, environmental, health and safety compliance, quality standards, and business process effectiveness.
- Maintain a strong external market perspective by monitoring competitor activity, customer trends, and regional opportunities, and translating insights into actionable strategies, including footprint and market optimization where needed.
- Lead regional communication, planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities to align teams around priorities, enable agility in execution, and drive strong business outcomes.
- Travel approximately 40%, including overnight travel.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. Master/MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 7+ years of progressive leadership experience, including leading large teams and developing other leaders.
- Demonstrated success in sales and operations leadership roles with full business accountability.
- Proven ability to lead through change, build strong customer relationships, and inspire high-performing teams.
- HVAC sales experience or related HVAC industry knowledge preferred.
- Knowledge of HVAC distribution, dealer sales, service, installation, and business practices preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, required.
- Valid driver’s license is held for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations, including but not limited to:
- DUI within the previous 5 years; Hit and run; License suspension
- Reckless or careless driving within the previous 3 years
- Multiple minor infractions or preventable collisions within the previous 3 years

Compensation:
- Annual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range: $169,600.00 - $336,420.00
