Position Overview:

The Area Internal Sales Manager will lead, develop, and optimise the performance of Internal Sales teams across multiple locations, driving revenue growth, service excellence, and operational efficiency. The role ensures effective inbound and outbound sales activity, strong customer relationships, and seamless collaboration with external sales, distribution, and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

Internal Sales Leadership & Performance Management

  • Design and optimise the internal sales team to ensure the right roles, headcount, and structure are in place.
  • Lead and motivate Internal Sales teams across multiple offices to achieve and exceed sales targets.
  • Set clear KPIs (e.g., conversion rates, call activity, order value, margin performance).
  • Monitor office-level performance, identify trends, and implement improvement plans.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, coaching sessions, and development planning.
  • Foster a high-performance, customer-focused sales culture.

Team Management (Multi-site)

  • Provide day-to-day leadership to Internal Sales Agents across locations (in-person and remote).
  • Ensure consistent processes, standards, and behaviours across all sites.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members.
  • Build capability in product knowledge, sales techniques, and systems use.
  • Promote engagement and collaboration across geographically dispersed teams.

Commercial & Sales Activity Management

  • Oversee inbound enquiry handling, quotation management, and order processing.
  • Drive proactive outbound sales activity (upselling, cross-selling, reactivation).
  • Ensure pricing strategies, margins, and discount controls are applied effectively.
  • Support key account management in collaboration with external sales teams.
  • Identify opportunities to grow share of wallet within existing customers.

Customer Experience & Relationship Management

  • Resolve escalated customer issues and complaints promptly.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders.
  • Champion a “customer-first” culture across all internal sales operation

Operational Efficiency & Process Improvement

  • Standardise and optimise internal sales processes across multiple locations.
  • Leverage internal systems to improve visibility, reporting, and productivity.
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate forecasting, pipeline management, and reporting.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Deliver regular sales performance reports (team, site, product, customer) for area SLT and commercial teams.
  • Analyse data to inform decision-making and strategy.
  • Track KPIs such as:
    • Conversion rates
    • Revenue & margin
    • Customer retention
    • Quote turnaround times

  • Experience in developing, engaging, leading, and motivating a high-performing team who strive to deliver results.
  • Ability to demonstrate unrivalled customer experience excellence.
  • Knowledge of the current market & competitor pricing.
  • Experience of multi-site management.
