Area Lead Janitor

Location: Various Aberdeenshire sites
Working hours: Monday to Friday 08:00-16:00 - 37 hours per week
Salary: £16.44 per hour

Your new role

What you’ll do:

  • Carry out routine and ad-hoc janitorial duties in support of all on site personnel to ensure compliance with RFM contract conditions.
  • Carry out planned janitorial maintenance duties in accordance with agreed timescales and procedures and undertake any property maintenance work within the post holder’s range of competence.
  • Respond to all help desk calls to ensure effective resolution within agreed response times. Call out specialist support as required, logging and recording call histories for subsequent entry on to the Help Desk System.
  • Maintain the safe and efficient operation of all the schools energy systems in accordance with agreed contract conditions.
  • Carry out winter gritting and snow clearing duties ensuring a site meets health and safety requirements.
  • Ensure all sub-contractors working on site have approval. All required documentation is complete and accessible to ensure work is carried out in compliance with RFM Health and Safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment at all times.
  • Supervision, development and monitoring of all Janitorial and cleaning staff to ensure cleaning standards are maintained in accordance with contract conditions and agreed quality management procedures.
  • Organise all janitorial requirements to ensure safe execution of external lets in all properties.
  • Possess full working knowledge of RFM policies, systems, approved IT Systems, procedures and objectives to assist in the successful delivery of contract conditions.
  • Organise janitor holiday rotas to ensure suitable presence in all properties.
  • Report all accidents & incidents in accordance with agreed procedures.
  • Assist in the recruitment of janitorial and cleaning staff.
  • Provide support and assistance to any of the other RFM sites as directed by the Facilities Manager.

What you’ll need:

  • Awareness of Health & Safety issues and the need for safe methods of working
  • Awareness of COSHH regulations.
  • Previous janitorial experience
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills with evidence to support this.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Technical background preferred.
  • Basic Health and Safety knowledge
  • Ability to operate effective IT systems

The successful candidate will require a PVG/Disclosure Check prior to starting in the role.

Who we’re looking for:

You will supervise the janitorial and cleaning staff. It is envisaged that the internal cleaning will be carried out outside of the school working day. Hours of work will be a combination of both morning and evening work, which will be agreed between the Facilities Manager and the client. In addition, the Lead Janitor will be expected to assist with janitorial and cleaning duties and carry out inspections/audits across the sites at regular intervals.

As Lead Janitor you will be required to be on call, the frequency of which will depend on the site you are located on. When on call duty you will be required to seek solutions for any problems on site and attend site when necessary. This may include identifying suitable contractors and allowing them access to site to resolve the problem.
