Café de Nata is a London-based artisan bakery and café concept, fully dedicated to freshly baked Pastéis de Nata, the iconic Portuguese custard tart. As a family-owned business with strong growth ambitions, the company blends a 300-year-old recipe with modern bakery practices to deliver premium quality pastries and specialty coffee. The team is diverse and international, including chefs, baristas, and managers who share a passion for Portuguese cultural heritage and “feel good” food experiences. Products are prepared and baked in full view of customers throughout the day, ensuring freshness and craftsmanship. In addition to serving guests in-store, Café de Nata supplies other cafés and restaurants and regularly caters for parties, societies, and corporate events.
Role Description
The Area Manager role is a full-time, on-site position based in the London Area, United Kingdom. This role oversees multiple café locations, ensuring consistent operational standards, product quality, and customer service across all sites. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

The Area Manager will work closely with the leadership team to drive growth, improve processes, and maintain brand integrity, including adherence to food safety and hygiene standards. This role also involves:
- Handling escalated customer issues
- Supporting local marketing initiatives
- Ensuring a positive, inclusive working environment for all team members
Qualifications
- Experience in multi-site retail, hospitality, or foodservice management, with strong leadership and team development skills.
- Proficiency in operational management, including scheduling, inventory control, and adherence to health, safety, and food hygiene regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze sales data, manage budgets, and support revenue and profitability growth.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and resolve issues constructively.
- Customer-focused mindset, with a commitment to delivering high-quality products and memorable guest experiences.
- Organizational and problem-solving skills, including the capacity to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently across multiple locations.
- Previous experience in bakery or café environments and knowledge of Portuguese cuisine or culture are beneficial.
- Flexibility to work across different sites and shifts, including weekends and peak trading periods.
