Role Description:
Our client is seeking an experienced Area Manager to oversee a portfolio of commercial cleaning contracts across the South, covering Surrey, Hampshire, and the surrounding areas. This is a hands-on operational role for someone who enjoys leading teams, building strong client relationships, and ensuring services are delivered to a consistently high standard.
Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, you will take responsibility for the operational performance of your contract portfolio. Working closely with Supervisors and Cleaning Operatives, you will ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with client expectations, while maintaining compliance with company procedures and relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing the operational performance of multiple commercial cleaning contracts.
- Leading, motivating and developing Supervisors and Cleaning Operatives.
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with clients through regular communication and site visits.
- Carrying out scheduled site inspections and audits to monitor service quality, health and safety compliance, and customer satisfaction.
- Managing staffing requirements, including recruitment, induction, scheduling, absence cover and employee relations.
- Working closely with HR, Payroll and internal support teams to ensure accurate administration and compliance.
- Managing stock levels and ordering cleaning materials and equipment within agreed budgets.
- Monitoring labour costs and operational expenditure to achieve financial targets.
- Investigating and resolving client queries or service issues promptly and professionally.
- Supporting the mobilisation of new contracts and contract renewals where required.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and company policies, including Health & Safety, COSHH, manual handling and risk assessments.

About You:
To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience managing multiple commercial cleaning contracts and be confident leading teams across several locations. You will be organised, customer-focused and able to balance operational priorities while maintaining excellent service standards.

Essential Requirements:
- Previous experience managing multi-site commercial cleaning operations.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and client relationship management abilities.
- Experience producing operational and client reports.
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and cleaning industry compliance.
- Full UK driving licence with the flexibility to travel across the region.
- Flexibility to work outside standard office hours when operationally required, including early mornings and evenings.
Desirable:
- Experience using audit, workforce planning or rota management systems.
- BICSc, IOSH Managing Safely or similar industry qualifications.
