About the business

Our client is an exciting, fast-growing start-up and one of the UK's fastest growing franchisors of virtual restaurant brands. They partner with independent kitchen operators, using existing kitchen capacity to sell additional brands through delivery platforms, helping partners increase sales and profitability without the overhead of a new site.

The role

To support rapid expansion, our client is looking for a Operations Manager to join the team. Reporting into the Operations Director, you will be responsible for the ongoing performance management and training of franchise partners to drive commercial success, supporting them to deliver brands to a high standard and identifying opportunities for business growth.

This role covers the Essex / Greater Essex / Harlow / Chelmsford patch - currently around 20 virtual sites, with room to grow to 25 and potentially 30 over time as the estate expands. You'll be field based in the London/Essex area, with travel to partner locations nationally, and will join a small team of Regional Operations Managers reporting into the Operations Director.

What you'll do

  • Becoming an expert on the brands and menus — full training will be provided.
  • Meeting with franchise partners to quickly build rapport and a constructive working relationship.
  • Performing regular audits and statutory checks; where KPIs aren't being met, working closely with partners to agree a remedial action plan.
  • Monitoring KPIs and reviewing these with partners to drive continuous improvement and business growth.
  • Working with franchise partners to identify opportunities to grow their business.
  • Training kitchen teams on how to deliver brands and menus to the highest standards and in accordance with brand specifications.
  • Working collaboratively and flexibly to integrate menus into partners' existing operations to maximize efficiency and performance.
  • Continually developing and improving the partner training framework.
  • Working closely with the Commercial team to ensure franchise partners experience a smooth onboarding process.
  • Supporting the commercial and operational aspects of the business, including managing enquiries from franchisors and suppliers.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Previous franchising experience is helpful but not essential - what matters most is the ability to deal with problems, influence franchise partners, and manage performance effectively. Direct food or QSR experience isn't essential either, provided you can demonstrate real evidence of building and leading teams across a challenging, multi-site estate.

Working pattern

  • One day per week is generally an admin / home-working day.
  • One day per week is based at the client's head office.
  • The remainder of the role is spent out managing the regional estate and visiting sites and franchise partners.
