Department Manager - Information Management & Office Services

Lead, Influence, Develop and Grow Your Career

Are you an aspiring leader looking for an opportunity to make a real impact while developing your management career?

Mitie is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Department Manager to lead a diverse and highly visible Information Management and Office Services team supporting Defence customers across Hampshire. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual who enjoys leading people, driving service improvements, building strong customer relationships, and developing their leadership experience within one of the UK's leading Facilities Management organisations.

The role is primarily based at HMS Collingwood, Fareham, where much of the team and management activity is centred. However, regular travel will be required to support service delivery, team engagement, and customer relationships at HMS Sultan, Gosport and HMS Excellent, Portsmouth. This provides valuable exposure to a variety of operational environments and stakeholders across the Defence estate.

You will lead several service areas including Information Hub operations, Reprographics, Corporate Communications and Event Support, Personal Assistant and Executive Support Services, and Chaplaincy Administration. No two days are the same, and you'll have the opportunity to influence service delivery across multiple sites while working alongside experienced operational leaders.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious manager seeking to broaden their leadership experience across multiple sites and service lines, providing a strong foundation for future progression into senior operational management roles.

About The Role

As Department Manager, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality customer-focused services whilst leading and developing a team of dedicated professionals.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Leading, motivating, and developing a multi-disciplined team across several service streams.
  • Acting as the Subject Matter Expert for Information Management and Office Services.
  • Ensuring contractual service levels, quality standards, and customer expectations are consistently achieved.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with military and civilian stakeholders.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve service delivery, efficiency, and customer experience.
  • Promoting innovation and continuous improvement across all areas of responsibility.
  • Monitoring performance, quality, compliance, and operational risk.
  • Supporting business change initiatives and contributing to wider contract objectives.
  • Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, Security, and Data Protection requirements.
  • Maintaining a positive, professional, and customer-focused culture throughout the team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
