Area Manager
Location: Bath
Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum + Car + Bonus
Role: Permanent | Full-time
Ready to take ownership of a region and really make it your own?
We’re looking for an experienced Area Manager to lead a portfolio of locations across the South West, joining a successful, well-established organisation where strong leadership, commercial thinking and great execution make a real difference.
This is a role with genuine responsibility. You’ll have the autonomy to shape performance across your area, develop your management teams and identify where things can be done better. Whether that’s improving results, raising standards, developing future leaders or turning around an underperforming location, you’ll have the influence to make things happen.
You won’t be leading from behind a desk either. You’ll be visible across your area, close to your teams and trusted to understand what’s happening on the ground before turning that insight into action.
What you’ll be doing as an Area Manager
- Taking ownership of the commercial and operational performance of your area
- Leading, coaching and challenging your managers to deliver stronger results
- Identifying opportunities to improve performance and putting clear action plans in place
- Getting under the skin of the numbers to understand what’s working, what isn’t and why
- Raising standards and driving greater consistency across your locations
- Building strong, capable management teams with clear succession and development plans
- Managing costs effectively without compromising operational performance
- Tackling underperformance quickly and constructively
- Sharing best practice and creating an environment where teams continuously look for ways to improve
- Spending time across your area, staying close to your people and maintaining a strong understanding of each location

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we’re looking for
You’ll already have experience leading multiple locations, branches or sites and be comfortable taking accountability for performance across a geographical area. More importantly, you’ll know how to get the best out of managers.
You’ll be someone who can look at the numbers, spot where the opportunities are and then work with your teams to turn those opportunities into results. You’ll be equally comfortable having a commercial conversation, coaching a manager or rolling your sleeves up to understand an operational challenge.
We’re looking for:
- Proven multi-site leadership experience
- A strong track record of improving operational and commercial performance
- Experience coaching, developing and challenging managers
- Strong commercial awareness and confidence working with performance data
- A visible, hands-on leadership style
- The confidence to make decisions and take ownership
- Resilience and the ability to operate at pace
- The ability to balance immediate priorities with longer-term improvement
Experience within retail, hospitality, leisure, logistics, distribution or another fast-paced multi-site environment could all translate well into this opportunity.
Why join?
This is an opportunity to take on a sizeable leadership role where you’ll be trusted to run your area, develop your people and influence results.
You’ll receive:
- Salary up to £70,000 per annum
- Company car
- Performance-related bonus
- Genuine autonomy across your region
- The opportunity to lead and develop established management teams
- A role where your decisions have a visible impact on performance
- Career opportunities within a large and successful UK organisation
